What is The Creation Series?

Burning city. Disaster concept. You can put your design on the city

With the final edits delivered on book 3 in The Creation Series, we officially have a release date. March 20th the end of one world will prove to be the beginning of another, and I couldn’t be more excited to be bringing this series to its epic conclusion.

For those of you not familiar with The Creation Series, I thought I’d share a bit of how these books came to be. In what feels like a lifetime ago, I had the chance to live in the country of Venezuela for a few years while on a service mission for my church, spending some time in a remote town on the outskirts of the Amazon Rainforest. Later in life, after completing my debut novel, Housebroken, I decided I wanted to explore an idea where horror and faith collide and couldn’t escape the recurrent thought that — like most ideas for a novel — began with the magic “what if” …

What if a ‘god-like’ being arrived on this earth with the intentions of starting life over? And what if, as its blueprint, it used the basis of the 7 days of the creation, as recounted in the Bible?

And that’s where the horror elements crept in, for rather than simply creating light and darkness or plants and animals, this being would distort them to extremes. Blinding light and complete darkness. Water literally separated from the earth. And wait till you meet the “beasts and creeping things.”

(And yes, that’s the language used in the Bible!)

But a high concept is only as good as the characters that inhabit the world of the story, and The Creation Series more than anything is an exploration of the frailties of man. There are no heroes in this story, only men and women who are as flawed as any of us in real life. Toss these characters — each with their own agendas and complexities — into the boiling pot of the plot taking place around them and you’ve got a stew that is sure to delight and horrify, all at the same time. Then place both the events and characters in the unique setting of the Amazon Rainforest, and it’s a story I haven’t seen anything quite like.

Part thriller, part sci-fi, part horror, this series breaks the boundaries genres normally operate in, but if you’re a fan of speculative fiction with a dark twist I invite you to dive in.

In celebration of the launch of book 3, The Creation: Gods and Man, the first book in the series will be on sale for just $0.99 for the entire month of March. And if a buck is too steep of an entry price, you can whet your appetite on Part Zero – The Creation: In The Beginning, which is free on Amazon, to determine if the story grabs you.

More to come this month, including a chance to win signed copies of all 3 books in the series, so stay tuned and please, help spread the word!
