A Hummingbird’s First Flutter from Grave to Open Sky
I can’t explain how excited I am to see Jennifer Skutelsky’s success with her novel Grave of Hummingbirds. Chosen originally as a Kindle Scout selection, her novel was then picked up by Amazon’s larger literary imprint Little A and was now chosen as a Kindle First for the month of December! It’s amazing to see how a program like Kindle Scout is literally changing author’s lives. So well deserved, this couldn’t have happened to a better author. Congrats Jennifer! I’m cheering from the sidelines.
Ahead of the launch of my novel, Grave of Hummingbirds, on January 1st, 2016, the book peeps out on December 1st, 2015, to participate in Amazon’s Kindle First program. I feel much the same as I imagine Grave does: honored, and shit scared.
What’s Kindle First, you might ask, and it’s a good question (I didn’t know, either).
Honored came into play when I learned that six novels are chosen from all of Amazon’s traditional imprints to head out a month prior to their release, on offer for free to Amazon Prime members, or at reduced cost to those who sign up for the Kindle First newsletter.
